Scared Hitless until the bottom of the 7th
The co-rec final came down to the wire. Saved by the balls took an early 3 run lead in the top of the first inning that put Scared Hitless on their heels. After some great all-around play by Saved by the balls the score was 9-5 at the end of the 5th inning. In the bottom of the 6th inning a clutch hit by Andrew Barnard brought Scared Hitless back with the ball game tied at 9-9. Barnard followed up the clutch hit with a great pitching performance in the top of the 7th recording 3 straight outs. After a leadoff triple by Mike Husted in the bottom of the 7th, Saved by the balls intentionally walked seasoned veteran John Boyle to get to Andrew Cox. Cox showed a great eye and worked the count into his favor drawing a game winning walk and RBI to make Scared Hitless your 2012 co-rec softball champions.
Wet and Wild Water Polo
It's just another day in paradise at the RWC lap pool. This great innertube water polo tournament ended with a match-up between the always tough DPT team against the eventual champion Yahoo Wahoos. It was a battle of titans that started out back and forth. Unfortunately for DPT, Dave Galat's quest for a championship in one of his last events came to fruition. With a 10-5 final score, the Yahoo Wahoos took home the innertube water polo championship. Congratulations to all of the teams that came out for this great event. Thank you to the aquatics staff for being great hosts to the intramural sports water polo tournament.
Down goes Pins!
Boardwalk Bowl hosted another great event this semester. With only 14 teams the competition was centered around the top 3 teams. In third place Phi Gamma Delta rolled in at 1,947 total pins over the course of 3 games. Splitting the top 3 in second place was Beta Theta Pi with 2,129 total pins. Striking the competition down by 100 pins was Unbowlievable coming in first place with a total pin count of 2,229. Great teams made this event possible and congratulations to Seth Karbal, Alexandra Depaolo, Justin Mills and Gary Muzzonigro for winning the spring 2012 bowling tournament.
Quick Hands are good enough for wiffleball
You're in good hands with Quick Hands. Team Quick Hands came from the 5 seed to take the wiffleball crown over Fiji in a great game. In bracket play, Beta takes out number 1 overall seed Sigma Pi only to lose in the semi-finals against the eventual champion Quick Hands. On the other side of the bracket, number 2 ranked Phi Delt loses to the Unblemished Lambs in quarter final action. We want to thank all 14 teams for participating in the event on a beautiful Saturday morning.
Water Polo Deadline!! 4/9
If you are thinking about warming up for the olympics, this is the place. The intramural sports water polo tournament will be held Saturday April 14th at 10am. Don't forget to sign your team up by April 9th at 6pm, the summer olympics are just around the corner and you cannot afford to miss practice time on the water.

UCF students earn GA opportunities
Five UCF Intramural Supervisors will be taking their talents elsewhere next fall, as they have accepted graduate assistant offers at other universities. Graduate assistants (GA's) are vital in the recreation field, as students gain experience operating programs while working on a masters degree with waived tuition by the institution. Departing UCF and studying at other programs will be Leanne Thompson (Purdue University), Alexandra Prano (University of Florida), Richard Shiller (Clemson University), Brittney Shiller (Southern Illinois University) and Korey Lane (Grand Valley State University).
Rec Fest of Champions
Rec Fest XXII was a huge success with 48 teams participating in one of the closest point’s race in recent years. The top 5 teams were only separated by 73 points which created a heated competition down the stretch. Team You Mad? came out on top with a team of John Boyle, Brandon Baroody and Andie Weston. Team USA has nothing on our 3v3 Soccer Champs
If you did not come to the RWC Park and watch our 3 on 3 soccer tournament then you missed a goal-den opportunity. The temperature was just right as was the competition. We had a few tough semifinal matches between FSA United vs Cool Runnings and Joga Feito vs Muffin Stuffers. The men’s final game ended when Joga Feito outlasted a great effort by FSA United. On our women’s side of the bracket the Black Mambas had a great run against Nacho Cheese. After the Mambas beat Tigers and Nacho Cheese beat Down to Futebol, they turned their sights on each other. Unfortunately for Nacho Cheese it was Na-cho time to win the women’s division as the Black Mambas walked away with the championship. Thank you to all of the participants that played and enjoyed a great day of soccer at the RWC Park!!

Soccer Champions Galore
Six teams took home Soccer IM Cups starting in Men’s Rec B as El Gato Volador defeated the Tennis Club 3-0. Vittorino Sandoval, Robert Lee, and Raymond Schrieber all scored goals for EGV. In the Men’s Rec A Championship Old Skool 5 flew past the Flying V’s 5-1. Dylan Manning, Ryan McNulty, Guillermo Rodrigues, Austin Scruggs, and Eric Stewart lead a balanced scoring attack, each finding the net for a goal. The ladies were up next, and in the Women’s Rec Championship Balls and Dolls shut out Looking to Score 3-0. Jessica Plasencia scored 2 goals in the first half and scored another in the 2nd giving her a hat trick and the MVP honors. In the Men’s Comp B Championship, Conrad's Crew outlasted Off the Post 3-2. The game was back and forth, with teams matching goals until the last few minutes when Conrad's Crew converted the game winner. In the Women’s Comp Championship: Alpha Delta Pi won in a thriller over Kappa Alpha Theta, 1-1 (4-2 PK). A rematch from Week 2, the game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation after Gabi Martinez and Nadeska Concha each had goals for their squads. The game then went in to 2 overtime periods with still no score which lead to Penalty Kicks. ADPi converted on attempts by Gabriella Martinez, Elizabeth Logan, Carley Self, Alyssa Sherman, and Elizabeth Tienstra. In the Comp A Championship, Lambda Chi Alpha dominated FC Nona from start to finish with a 4-0 victory. Andrew Brooks scored 3 goals for LXA, who put the game away early and held on with shutout defense. Congrats to all of our winners.
Volleyball Finals Go Greek!
Volleyball Finals night was full of Greek action. The night started with the Rec Final between Beta Theta Pi and Theta Chi. Beta Theta Pi took the first set but Theta Chi came back firing and took set two with ease. The combo of Luke Jones and Jared Greenbaum insured Beta Theta Pi the victory in the 3rd set. Greenbaum was named the MVP and received the American Eagle game ball. Our co-rec final was the only greek-free game of the night. 4 seed Primetime took down 3 seed Off Constantly in 2 sets. Sarah Wassmuth was named MVP and received the game ball. Comp finals featured Delta Upsilon and Dassit!. Delta Upsilon was down early but tied the first set 18-18 and never looked back as they took the set 25-20. DU would claim the second set as well 25-23 and take the comp championship. Grady Boardman was the game's MVP. Our last final of the night featured two sororities and the biggest crowd of the night. 400 plus people cheered on 2 seed Pi Beta Phi as they took on 4 seed Alpha Xi Delta. The evenly matched teams went back and forth in a marathon 25 minute first set. Pi Beta Phi would pull ahead and take the first set 25-22. Their momentum carried into the 2nd set, and with Alpha Xi Delta struggling to return the ball for points, Pi Beta Phi was able to pull away with an easy 25-15 victory. Pi Beta Phi is your new women's volleyball champions. Brynn Snyderman was named the game's MVP and received the game ball.

UFC hosted at UCF
That's right, the Ultimate Frisbee Championship was hosted at UCF on Saturday February 4th. Over 20 teams came out to participate in the IM Ultimate Frisbee tournament this year and although it was a windy day teams were ready to play. The comp final had the clear number one seed with Channel 4 news team playing against the underdogs AEPi, who made it all the way to the finals playing iron man ultimate with no subs. In the end, fatigue got the best of AEPi and Channel 4 News team took home the championship winning 9-4. The Rec final was between the number one seed Prestige Worldwide and the number two seed Dirty Mike and the Boys. Prestige Worldwide was looking to avenge last year’s defeat in the championship game with a better showing this year. With the dynamic duo of Lukas Hayden and Kevin Wang Prestige Worldwide was able to win comfortably 9-3 and take home the Rec championship.
New Champions in Table Tennis
IM Sports wants to thank everyone who participated in the Spring 2012 Table Tennis tournament held on January 28th. We had a competitive group of students with only 3 left standing at the end of the day. For the competitive division Jordan Skidmore walked away as our champion. In our recreational division Austin Traurig returned enough backhands to sustain his dominance. One the women's side of the bracket, Tamara Khanjahanbakhsh had a serve that made her opponents head spin which made her the queen of the castle. Congrats to all competitors!!!

Trivia winners show their smarts
Congratulations to the Real Men of Genius, who used their intellectual superiority to knock of the Jive Turkeys in the finals of the 2012 Sports Trivia Tournament. Seth Benes, Chad Altman, and Andrew Jenette outlasted a field of 12 teams by demonstrating that their useless sports knowledge could actually be useful. The RMOG lasted through five rounds of rigorous questioning by the trivia hostess, Ashley Lax until they squeaked by the Jive Turkeys 7-6 in the final.
