From Lexington, Kentucky, Shane Land began working at the RWC in September 2012. Previous education includes University of Kentucky; B.A in Business Management; University of Central Florida; Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Sports Business Management. Shane Land is also a collegiate basketball official. He struggles through baseball and football seasons as a Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Lions fan.
Heather Marshall is from Cape Coral, Florida. She received her BS in Math Education from UCF and her MEd in Higher Education from the University of Georgia. Heather previously worked at the RWC in the Intramural Sports program from 2009-2013. Before returning to UCF, Heather worked at Appalachian State University within the Intramural and Club Sports Program.
Originally from Canton, OH, Rob moved to Columbus, OH to attend Ohio State University where he received degrees in Psychology and Criminology. There he began his journey in the world of campus recreation as a basketball official. Since then Rob has worked many different sports for both intramurals and sport clubs. He even became high school certified to officiate wrestling. Outside of work, Rob enjoys fishing, traveling, cooking, and country music.
David Ruizcalderon began his tenure as a Graduate Intern for the RWC in October of 2017. Originally from Miami, FL, David relocated to Tallahassee, FL, where he completed his B.S. in Marketing at Florida State University. Shortly thereafter, he traversed up the east coast to pursue a Masters of Sports Leadership degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Along with his passion for campus recreation, David also officiates basketball, baseball, and flag football at the high school level. When not surrounded by sports, you can find David studying to be a sommelier, obsessing over Food Network, or criticizing people on HGTV for their "wrong" choices.
Joaquin grew up in Cayey, Puerto Rico and moved to Tampa, FL in 2009. In 2012 he moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. Joaquin was heavily involved as an Intramural and Sport Club participant his freshman year. After developing an interest for intramurals, Joaquin started working as a softball and basketball official during his sophomore year. Eventually he became a Supervisor and Program Assistant where he was a mentor to new officials and supervisors. Outside of the RWC, Joaquin officiates basketball at the high school and collegiate level. When he is not working, Joaquin enjoys traveling and playing with his dog Nacho.
Bart Belderbos is one of our more interesting supervisors. He comes to us from the Netherlands so it is no surprise that he is bilingual, speaking Dutch and English. He is currently in his second year of graduate school working on getting his masters in Industrial Mathematics. After graduation he would like to get a job as a financial analyst. Coming to us from Europe, he is obviously a huge soccer fan. Soccer is his favorite sport to officiate and Ajax is his favorite club team. Also, keep an eye out for Bart at the next Masters because he did make a hole in one ONCE.
Mia is a senior studying Sports and Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. She hopes to pursue a career in Kinesiology or Sports Psychology. Mia was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and enjoys playing soccer and ultimate frisbee. Her favorite sports to officiate are soccer and dodgeball. In her free time, you can usually find Mia either at Disney or cheering on the Patriots.
Hanmi Toddy is a senior majoring in Mathematical Education and hopes to become a high school math teacher after she graduates. Hanmi is big into volleyball. She has played and coached volleyball for many years and hopes to officiate college volleyball one day. Hanmi is a big fan of Navajo Tacos but only allows herself to indulge on special occasions, such as when she is done with final exams. Something that most people don’t know about Hanmi is that she was crowned Junior Princess for a Native American pow-wow in 2007.
Don't be deceived by Charles' quiet demeanor, he loves making friends and hanging out with people. This is apparent when he puts his stripes on and steps onto the field to officiate his favorite sport, Flag Football. When he's not officiating, he is often times found practicing at the turfs in hopes to one day win the IM Champion Shirt for Flag Football. Staying true to being born in the Bronx, his favorite team is the New York JETS JETS JETS.
Tom was born and raised in the Netherlands, and moved here 5 years ago when his brother wanted to pursue a degree in Florida. His whole life is football, or "soccer." If he's not playing or reffing soccer on the IM fields, he's either playing FIFA, or watching soccer. Not a second goes by where he's not thinking about soccer. His favorite team is Ajax Amsterdam, and favorite player is Luis Suarez. When he's not playing FIFA though, he's probably just watching YouTube videos or playing a lot of Overwatch.
Kristen is a senior majoring in Health Sciences and hopes to pursue a career in the oncology field. She was born and raised in South Florida where she grew up at the beach and at the fields playing flag football. She plays for the women's National Championship flag football team at UCF and when she isn't playing she is officiating. She loves a good bowl from Chipotle and hanging out with her girlies. An interesting fact about her is that she shares her birthday with her awesome mom!
Elma is a junior majoring in Computer Engineering. She was born and raised in Miami, aka the 305, and will represent the city till the day she dies. She’s refereed all sports except softball, and her favorite is Flag Football. When not in class or working, she can be found enjoying two of her favorite hobbies, sleeping and eating. Besides that, she can be found cheering on her favorite teams the Miami Heat and the Green Bay Packers.
Maddie is another employee who started working for us as a freshman and is now going into her junior year. Maddie comes from Lake Village, AR. I think saying that she is an animal lover is a bit of an understatement as she has a mini zoo with 6 dogs, 8 cats, and 2 turtles back home. With one of her cats being named the famous Simba. Maddie is also a Elementary Education major in hope of becoming a teacher when she graduates. Her favorite sport to officiate and play is floor hockey. On top of that she is part of the UCF Judo club and is a current national collegiate champion!
Chris Chandler, or just Chandler as everyone calls him, is a business major studying marketing from the beautiful small town of Vero Beach, Florida. He's an avid fan of all the diamond sports as he enjoys umpiring baseball, softball and last but certainty not least kickball. He said his favorite part of this job is how many people he gets to meet and all the great friends he's made. There is a 100% guarantee the crying laughing emoji was created in his image.
Kajani started working for us his freshman year. He is now going into his junior year majoring in Biology. He moved to America when he was 11 from Barbados. If you want to get on his good side, make him a good burger and hang out with him while he watches his favorite football team, the Indianapolis Colts. Kajani has come very far in his tour of seeing every NFL stadium with ONLY 30 left to see. Also, he thinks Adele is the songbird of our generation.
Detroy Farquharson is a junior student at the University of Central Florida pursing Aersopace Engineering. He works at the recreational and wellness center as an Intramural sports supervisor and official. His favorite sport to officiate is basketball, but when it comes to playing you can catch him on the soccer field.
Nick is a junior majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. Most people call him GROOS. He hopes to pursue a career as a Financial Analyst or Construction Estimator. Nick was born and raised in Naples, FL and enjoys playing Football and Hockey. His favorite sport to officiate is Flag Football. Nick favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Jimmie Johnson. In his free time Nick is either Fishing or working in construction.
Cameron comes to UCF from St. Petersburg, FL. He is a senior majoring in Digital Media Web Design. He aspires to be an exceptional Web & Graphic Designer. He’s quite the sports enthusiast who loves track & field, football and basketball. His favorite teams are the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Lakers. At the RWC he enjoys officiating flag football and basketball. In his free time he likes to play video games, mainly Call of Duty and Destiny on his Xbox One.
Caitlyn is majoring in Mechanical engineering at UCF. Before moving to Orlando she went to Bishop Kenny Highschool in Jacksonville Florida. In her free time she plays Ultimate Frisbee here at central Florida with the club team. She also enjoys anything outdoors and loves a good camping trip.
Alexi is a sophomore majoring in Health Sciences on the Pre-Clinical track. She plans to go to graduate school to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist. Alexi is originally from Ft. Lauderdale and her favorite sports to play are volleyball and flag football. At UCF she enjoys officiating dodgeball and flag football. In the rare times she isn't studying, she is either tanning, at the beach or playing volleyball at the RWC.
Matt McGuier is finishing up his Junior year at UCF and has worked in IMs since the first year of his undergrad. Currently an Integrated Business major, Matt hopes to use his degree along with his experience in the program to give back to people who have been his shoes before once he graduates. Matt is big into basketball officiating but has worked almost every other IM sport offered. His favorite sports teams are the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Mets. His favorite podcast is Pardon My Take and his favorite things to watch are documentaries and basketball. It is considered to be rare if you catch Matt without a smile on his face.
Josh is a junior here at UCF and is pursuing a Chemistry major. He was born and raised in Miramar, Florida. Josh hopes to one day work for a pharmaceutical company. He officiates every sport that intramural sports provides, but his favorite sport to officiate is basketball. Josh enjoys playing basketball and a good game of Call of Duty.
Kyle Pianowski is a senior pursuing an Industrial Engineering degree hoping to one day have a successful career as an Engineer or a Referee. Born and raised in Connecticut, Kyle is a fan of all Boston sports teams. He’s played soccer since he was 5, but prefers to officiate flag football. When he’s not officiating, he’s playing sports, playing video games, or hanging out with his buddies.
Reagan Robins comes to us all the way from Orlando, FL!! She is a junior majoring in health sciences and minoring in instagram captions. She hopes to attend med school after graduating. Reagan's favorite sport to officiate is softball because she played her whole life. She doesn't really have a favorite sports team but her favorite restaurant is Chipotle. Outside of work you can catch Reagan at Target or watching Grey's Anatomy.
Ben Sanders is currently a senior studying journalism and sports business management. Originally from Wolverhampton, England he is usually found on the IM Fields having some banter and can be easily identified by his self-proclaimed goofy accent. He loves the game of soccer more than just about anything else and is one of our most talented soccer officials and plans on getting his FIFA licenses after he recovers from a reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament, which all his coworkers like to joke about. In his spare time he coaches with the Orlando City Foundation and plans on advancing his education so he can pursue a career in coaching and developing young American soccer players. A massive gearhead, Ben spends what little free time he has watching and writing about racing or playing Forza Motorsport 6.
Schafenacker is a Junior majoring in Health Services Administration and minoring in Leadership. Since she is from Ft. Lauderdale, she loves spending her summers on the beach. Kelly is also a director in the LEAD Scholars Academy and part of the President's Leadership Council. Her favorite sport to referee is dodgeball; she is known for laughing every time someone gets hit in the head. Although she enjoys dodgeball, volleyball has her heart considering she has played competitively for nine years. Kelly likes country music and is also a Miami Dolphin’s fan. FINS UP!
Nick is a senior majoring in health sciences. He love all things sports, with hockey and soccer being his favorites. On the weekends he enjoys hanging out with friends and eating a good burger or a chicken tender pub sub. After graduation he hopes to get a job in the health care field, but he says he wouldn't mind going back to school to get his masters or PhD.
Sam Thompson is currently going into her sophomore year, but is secretly a genius because, credit wise, she is actually a junior. Sam is majoring in Sport and Exercise Science and would like to go onto Physical Therapy school after she graduates. We’ve decided to forgive her around the RWC for the fact that she loves the Dallas Cowboys and don’t let her sweet face fool you because she is known to be a little sassy.
Nuri comes to us from Tampa, Florida. A sophomore majoring in sports and exercise science, she plans to go to school to teach and one day become a basketball coach. Her favorite sports to officiate include dodgeball, flag football,and basketball. Her favorite sports teams are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Golden state Warriors. In her spare time she loves spending time with family and friends and watching her favorite shows!
