Description:

Want to test your physical and mental process? The OA Annual Super Adventure Race is a sport adventure race that is fun for all types of racers whether they are seasoned or just a beginner. Be prepared for lots of challenges, teamwork, climbing, paddling, navigation and seriously great time. In team of three, the racers can enter into male, female, or coed categories. This event is free for students. Faculty/Staff, Alumni and community members can participate on any team for limited prices. Be prepared for lots of challenges, teamwork, ropes, climbing, paddling and navigation. All disciplines are beginner level. This will be a sport race taking teams about 4 hours to complete.

Teams (3 members each): Men’s, Women’s and Coed
*Top three overall are eligible for prizes

Required Gear:
Compass with bearings (1 per team)
Bike with helmet (each person)
Hydration for approximately for four hours (each person)
Weather appropriate clothing (you will get wet so bring something to swim in)
Map case/plastic bag (recommended)
*each team must have all the required gear to compete

Suggested Pre-Race meals:
Pre-event meals are important for athletes. They keep you from feeling hungry before and during the exercise and allow your muscles to produce the energy needed to complete a workout. The following are some suggestions

About 3-4 hours before the race:
Eat about 700 Calories
(1 bagel w/ fat free cream cheese or a bowl of wholesome cereal + fruit)

About 2-3 hours before the race:
Eat about 300-400 Calories
(1/2 of a turkey sandwich + baked chips, ½ a bagel, + a banana, smoothie)

About 1 hour or less before race:
Eat about 100 calories
(fresh fruit, ½ an energy bar or ½ a bagel)
*Remember to drink water 2-3 hours before the race, during and after the race!

Costs:
Free for currently enrolled UCF Students
UCF Faculty, Staff and Alumni: $15 per person (UCF ID must be provided)
Others not under the above categories: $40 per person
***UCF Student teams will be responsible for paying a $30 forfeit fee for failure to compete on race day. Team Captains will be held responsible for this fee.

All participants must complete a release of liability prior to participation. Waivers will be available day of at sign in. After registering online, teams who owe fees must complete their registration by paying entry fees prior to February 10, 2012. Fees can be paid by credit card or check. Payments can be made in the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center’s Outdoor Adventure Center.

The OAC’s hours are:
Monday and Friday: 12pm-6pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 2pm-6pm
Payments can be mailed in to the address below and must be postmarked by February 3, 2012. Payment will NOT be accepted on race day.
