Outdoor Adventure

Outdoor Adventure is a program compromised of five main areas: Adventure Trips, the Challenge Course, Equipment Rentals, Climbing Tower and Lake Claire. The program is housed in the Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) on the first floorof the RWC.

OUR MISSION:
The Outdoor Adventure Program is dedicated to encouraging personal growth, enhancing social interaction skills and cultivating leaders through engaging & challenging outdoor adventure pursuits.

This program provides students with an opportunity to explore the world around them in a fun and safe environment. The program is house in the OAC on the first floor of the Recreation and Wellness Center.

Students have an opportunity to learn important life skills and team development skills by taking advantage of the challenge course or going on an outdoor adventure trip. All these initiatives are designed to develop the students in a fun and safe environment. Students who want to enjoy the outdoors on their own can take advantage of Lake Claire, which offers equipment and water vessel checkouts. Lake Claire is located on the north side of campus across the Lake Claire apartments.

Adventure Trips

The Outdoor Adventure Trips Program provides students an opportunity to enhance their experience at UCF by providing fun and enriching outdoor experiences. From 1-day excursions to week-long expeditions, Outdoor Adventures offers a variety of trips for students to choose from.

Belay Sessions

Belay sessions are offered to anyone who wants to learn how to belay. Belaying is a technique where a rope is secured to a person as they climb up the tower. Learning the proper belay techniques allow a student to help a friend safely climb the tower.

Challenge Course

The Challenge Course is the RWC's high and low elements course. There are ten high elements on two levels between 25 and 45 feet. There are eleven total low elements. The RWC's high elements course is one of only five in the country.

Equipment Rentals

Our extensive equipment selection includes: Kayaks, Canoes, Surfboards, Stand Up Paddles Boards, Camping and snorkeling gear. All rental equipment and resource materials are available to UCF students and current RWC members.

SCUBA Certifications

Outdoor Adventure offers three different levels of SCUBA certifications; open water, advanced, and enriched air (Nitrox). The classes are usually held in the Recreation and Wellness Center lap pool and wet classroom.

The University of Central Florida and the Recreation and Wellness Center are not liable for injuries sustained during participation in a Recreation and Wellness Center sponsored activity. It is strongly recommended that all participants consult a physician and/or have a physical exam prior to participation. The University of Central Florida does not provide personal accident/health insurance. Therefore, participants are urged to secure their own insurance. You may suffer physical and/or mental injury from participating in these activities.
