Certifications: CPR/AED & First Aid


The Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) is proud to be a certification site for American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Certification. All classes are taught by RWC Professional Staff members who are certified instructors. Adult First Aid/CPR/AED is offered to UCF students, faculty and staff. Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is offered to members of the community (no affiliation to UCF required).

RWC CPR Course

About

The American Red Cross’ blended learning courses equip attendees to recognize and care for a variety of first aid breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants (depending on the course).

It is designed for attendees who need a certification that satisfies OSHA workplace or other regulatory requirements. These classes are taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the Instructor-led skills session.

Upon successful completion, a valid 2-year digital certificate based on the course taken is issued.

The RWC offers classes for both UCF Students & Faculty/Staff AND members of the Community (no affiliation to UCF required).

Adult First Aid/CPR/AED is offered to UCF students, faculty and staff. Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is offered to members of the community (no affiliation to UCF required).

Classes available to the general community will be designated as such on the upcoming course schedule

Registration

UCF Students and Staff can register for the Adult CPR/AED, First Aid course online or by contacting the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center’s administrative office staff either by visiting the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center in person or calling 407-823-2408 during our normal hours of operation:

M-R, 8am to 6pm, F: 8am to 5pm.

Members of the Community can register for the Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED, First Aid course, by clicking here. You will be directed to our online program enrollment system where you can create a guest account, choose an available course, and make a payment.

You may also visit the ucfrwc.org website and view programs to enroll. Please note: all registrants for this class will fall under the description of "community member" for the cancellation policy listed below.

Class Types

The Recreation and Wellness Center offers three types of CPR Certification Classes (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and/or AED (automated external defibrillator).

  1. Adult CPR/AED, First Aid: This Blended Learning class includes an online portion (approx. 2-3 hours long) and an instructor-led skills session (approx. 2 hours long). The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class skills session. This class is open to all UCF students, faculty and staff.
    This class contains a first aid component.

  2. Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED, First Aid: This Blended Learning class includes an online portion (approx. 2-3 hours long) and an instructor-led skills session (approx. 2.5 hours long). The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class skills session. This class is open to all persons including members of the community. This class contains a first aid component.

  3. CPR for The Professional Rescuer (CPRO):  This Blended Learning class includes an online portion (approx. 2-3 hours long) and an instructor-led skills session (approx. 3 hour long). The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class skills session. This class is only open to members of the UCF Community. This class does not contain a first aid component.

Cost

  • Adult CPR/AED, First Aid: $40 for UCF students, Faculty and Staff
  • Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED, First Aid: $85 for all attendees, open to community members
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPRO): $45 for UCF students
  • Note: The RWC does not offer refunds for courses. On a space available basis you may be able to reschedule, please see policies below for important information regarding Cancellation Fees.

Important Information & Policies

  • Classes are offered on a first come, first served basis. Most classes contain 12 seats open to participants
  • Cancellation Fee Policy:
    • Individuals who register for a class but
      • Fail to attend class
      • Are more than 10 minutes late
      • Have not completed the online portion of the certification training prior to the start of the in person portion of the training
      • Withdraw from the class beyond 48 hours prior to the start time of the class
    • UCF Students & Staff: will be charged $30.00 to re-take the class due to a limited number of spaces.
    • Community Members: will be charged $85.00 to re-take the class due to a limited number of spaces
  • Parking: Upon your arrival to the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center, we encourage you to consider parking in Parking Garage B (listed as “PGB” on the campus map) which is located across the street from the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center. It will cost $5 to park on campus if you do not have a UCF permit. You may purchase a virtual permit at this link 
  • Guests: Individuals taking a class may not bring a guest into the RWC facility. The RWC has a public lobby that guests can wait in, although children must be supervised by an adult.
  • Community classes are open to individuals over the age of 16. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
