Adventure Trip Leader


Primary Function

To provide and lead a positive and safe experience for trip participants in remote wilderness settings. The major focus of this position includes risk management, skills instruction, and community building, as well as accumulating the necessary skills through different staff trainings.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage physical and emotional safety of participants.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures for OA and the Recreation and Wellness Center are enforced.
  • Execute emergency action procedures when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain clear communication with co-leaders and supervisors.
  • Attend and be punctual to all set meetings and trip events hours.
  • Commitment to RWC and Outdoor Adventure mission.
  • Model professionalism in appearance and attitude.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to patrons.
  • Encourage LNT policies to participants.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment before, during and after trips, which includes gear clean-up and management.
  • Come to work ready to give participants a positive experience.
  • Maintain positive energy even when things are hectic or stressful.

Requirements

  • Attend mandatory multi day trainings totaling 120 hours in your first year on the program.
  • Ability to work extensive hours on weekends.
  • Strong desire to help participants and colleagues seek and learn from a variety of challenges.
  • Possess effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Possess a passion for working with others and being a team player.
  • Maintain positive energy and attitude.
  • Be comfortable with stretching out of your comfort zone.
  • Be understanding and sensitive to working with diverse populations.
  • Must obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
