Personal Trainer


Primary Function

To provide one-on-one fitness instruction to individuals desiring a program tailored to their specific needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to establish realistic yet challenging goals and meet their expectations.
  • Determine format and content of exercise/activity program based on individual client needs.
  • Plan and implement individualized exercise/activity programs for clients in general fitness, and/or specialized areas such as aerobics, stretching/flexibility training, circuit training, or sports performance.
  • Independently demonstrate and instruct clients on proper technique in standard and specialized exercise areas.
  • Conduct Fitness Assessments as assigned.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files.
  • Ensure client adherence to safety and injury prevention techniques; prepare injury reports as required.
  • Maintain a minimum of 3 clients.
  • Arrive on time for all sessions; at least 15 minutes prior to initial assessments and 10 minutes before training sessions.
  • Present a neat, well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to the Supervisor on duty.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Communicate effectively with the Fitness Coordinator, Shift Supervisors, Fitness Leads, Professional Staff members, Building Managers, and fellow peers.

Requirements

  • Complete a minimum of one semester as an RWC Fitness Attendant.
  • Complete the progression log pertaining to Personal Training.
  • Pass the Fitness Attendant evaluation in order to progress to a “Developing Personal Trainer.”
  • Possess a current personal training certification from a nationally recognized certifying body (AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NASM, or NSCA/CSCS preferred).
  • Maintain current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  • Possess team oriented ideals, willingness to work hard, and a drive to work independently.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout environment.
  • Act in a professional manner and respect clientele at all times.
  • Currently enrolled UCF student (per UCF HR policy, graduate students require background check)
  • Pass the evaluation as a Developing Personal Trainer in order to progress to a full time trainer.
