Student Assisted Workout Trainer


Primary Function

To provide one-on-one fitness instruction to students desiring a program tailored to their specific needs and abilities. This program is designed to support students with disabilities in creating and maintaining an exercise plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the Physical Therapy Faculty members to properly design a workout program that is suited for each individual, keeping in mind adaptation for each individual disability.
  • Work with clients to establish realistic yet challenging goals and meet their expectations.
  • Determine format and content of exercise/activity program based on individual client needs.
  • Perform follow-up assessments upon request to track client progress.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files.
  • Ensure client adherence to safety and injury prevention techniques; prepare injury reports as required.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to the Shift Supervisor on duty.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Communicate effectively with the Fitness Coordinator, Program Assistant, Adaptive Rec Coordinator, Professional Staff members, Building Managers, and peers.

Requirements

  • Trainers must be enrolled in the Doctorate in Physical Therapy Program at UCF.
  • Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  • Possess team oriented ideals, willingness to work hard, and a drive to work independently.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workout environment.
  • Act in a professional manner and respect clientele at all times.
