We are thrilled to announce that Eli Huftalin, our Outdoor Adventure Graduate Assistant, has won the Student Success and Well-Being Graduate Employee of the Year Award.

In the time Eli has been with us, he’s demonstrated exceptional dedication and excellence. Eli’s background as a mountaineering guide speaks to his love for challenges. He’s been instrumental in achieving our program’s goals, implementing a competency-based training system, and ensuring excellence in our procedures.

Eli’s commitment to student engagement and development has been remarkable. He’s created a sense of community and led with integrity, bringing much-needed structure and consistency to our program. Eli’s impact has been felt by not only our staff but also by our students. Here’s what some of them had to say:

– “He brings energy, kindness, and inclusion into the space. He always makes time to help others and gives great feedback.”
– “He allowed me to captain my own ship with his advice and encouragement. Eli is the definition of a transformative mentor and friend.”

Katherine Rocco had the pleasure of working closely with Eli, especially during their recent expedition to Costa Rica. Eli’s focused approach and ability to handle unexpected challenges made it the smoothest expedition she’s experienced. The participants echoed this sentiment in their post-trip evaluations: “We all instantly felt like family, and I feel like I formed valuable connections with everyone on the trip.”

Eli’s contributions to our Outdoor Adventure program at the Recreation and Wellness Center, and UCF at large have been invaluable. He embodies our values and is truly deserving of this award. Congratulations, Eli!
