Safe Knight Week started nine years ago as an impactful partnership event to help students identify and connect with campus safety resources before they travel for spring break. This year’s partners include Counseling and Psychological Services, Emergency Management, Office of Institutional Equity, Recreation and Wellness Center, Student Care Services, Student Health Services, and Wellness and Health Promotion Services. This year’s Safe Knight Week’s theme is space due to the rich history between NASA and UCF. The week of events begins Monday, March 29th and ends on April 1st, and includes (but not limited to) several marquee events: Monday, March 29th: Cosmos Paint Knight (Virtual, pick up supplies in advance at the WHPS office, the event on YouTube) Safety Search (In-person scavenger hunt) Tuesday, March 30th: Among Us online tournament from the RWC (Virtual, pre-register here) Green Dot Training (Virtual, pre-registration on Zoom here) Wednesday, March 31st: FreshU Galaxy Themed Cooking Demo (Virtual, join on Facebook Live} Arboretum Safety Course (Virtual on Zoom) Self-Defense Class (Virtual, pre-register here) Thursday: National Weather Service SkyWarn Training (Virtual, pre-register here) Paws-tiviely Stress-Free (Virtual, Join on Facebook here) Yoga Under the Stars at Lake Claire (In-Person, register 24 hours in advance here) “Our goal is to have programs in-person that follow COVID-19 guidelines where students can have fun and engage,” says Stephanie Spies, Assistant Director at WHPS and co-chair of the Safe Knight Week 2021. “We also wanted to make sure we have online programs for the students who are not able to come on campus or would prefer to join the fun online.” There are many more on-campus engagements for students to check out all week long.
