Forty-four Sport Clubs supported the UCF Women’s Basketball team on Wednesday at the Addition Financial Arena.

During the traditional War on I-4, all Sport Clubs had the chance to be recognized during halftime with their officers going to court and being applauded by all fans in the stands.

“It was awesome to see the fans cheering for our clubs,” said Jean Jerome, supervisor of six Sport Clubs. “I’m sure they will always remember that moment and use it as fuel for their upcoming tournaments.”

In the middle of all clubs, one, in particular, had more than just fun in the game: The Basketball Club at UCF joined the Sport Club Council in the Fall of 2019 and has been growing rapidly.

Watching the UCF Women’s Basketball team play had a special meaning for them.

“It is very inspiring to see all the clubs come and support the women’s team,” said Genny Dalien, a psychology major and member of the Basketball Club.

“As a woman, it is nice to see other women play basketball, how aggressive they are, and I can take notes on how they work hard” said Amanda Melendez, a nursing major and member of the Basketball Club. “Just to watch and support them is a great takeaway.”

The win against a state rival is great but seeing almost 400 Sport Club members supporting them is a memory that will sow seeds of inspiration in the numerous student-athletes involved in the UCF Sport Club Program.
