The Lap Pool which is located on the first floor of the Recreation and Wellness Center provides nine lanes of lap swimming. In addition to lap swimming, the lap pool serves as a venue for other programs such as swim lessons, SCUBA certifications, and sport club practices.
As part of the RWC Reopening plan 2.1 the Lap Pool is enhancing the student experience to include 10 open lanes (1 person per lane). Students and members do not have to reserve the lanes in advance. Face coverings are required at all times (outside of the water) and students must fill out the COVID-19 Daily Self-Checker before using our facilities.
The RWC will continue to remain flexible due to local health conditions in our reopening plans and may alter at any time based on the guidance provided by UCF as well as state and local health officials. COVID emergency response may be limited and that for potential life sustaining injuries priority will be given to calling 911.
The Lap Pool has a lift for students with disabilities that is accessible for students in wheelchairs.
RWC Lap or Leisure Pool Reservations are currently not available
The lifeguards at the RWC are all certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer. Lifeguard classes are taught by the Lifeguard Instructor staff in house in once per summer, fall and spring semester of each school year.
Swimming is an excellent form of a total body workout. We strive to help all UCF students acquire the skill of swimming through our swim class program. Whether you are a beginner that has never swam or wanting to just improve your swimming strokes for your first triathlon our classes are for you.
