Primary Function

To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all members of the Recreation and Wellness Center engaging in pool use.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the safety of yourself and co-workers.
  • To ensure the safety of all patrons using the aquatics facility during hours of operation, recreation events, and special functions.
  • Must staff at least 2 events per semester.
  • Must attend monthly meeting for lifeguard updates or staff training.
  • Must attend 1 in-service (4 hours) each month to maintain knowledge of aquatic skills pertaining to Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid.

Primary Function

Manage all aspects of the Recreation and Wellness Center operations during open hours. Supervise on-duty student associates and all activities in the Recreation and Wellness Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent the professional staff in their absence and in so doing, operate with the full authority of a full time staff member or the Lead Building Manager.
  • Become familiar enough with all areas in the facility to be able to fill any position if needed.
  • Complete visual inspections of facilities and equipment and reporting procedures.
  • Take immediate corrective action when appropriate.
  • Regulate the posting of materials in hall, bulletin board, etc.
  • Make continuous safety audits of facility, equipment and personnel.
  • Remain alert to building security including offices, unlocked doors, computer hardware, weight rooms, pool, and other high risk areas as well as perimeter security including mechanical rooms, gates, etc.
  • Give special attention to needs such as interior/exterior lighting problems, dressing rooms and lockers, emergency exits/stairwells, plumbing and or electrical problems.
  • Submit a Building Manager Report with hourly counts after each shift. Execute opening and closing procedures for the facility, including but not limited to reporting any security, maintenance or Physical Plant issues to the proper office.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary.

Primary Function

Challenge Course Facilitators work to guide groups of individuals through activities and games in order to build teamwork, trust, and communication skills through a unique and exciting experience. Facilitators will help each group reach their individual goals through challenging activities that require teamwork, puzzles and thought-provoking games, and intentional guided conversations that allow participants to reflect on the meaning of their experience.

These programs will be facilitated in a high-ropes, low ropes, virtual, or mixed, setting depending on the preference of the group, and participants will be learning under the “Experiential Learning Cycle” and “Choose your Challenge” philosophies, which describe the way in which learning takes place and allows participants to decide their own level of engagement based on comfort level.

Primary Function

The Sport Club Supervisor provides direction and support for club officers and members by serving as a liaison between sport clubs and the Sport Club Coordinator. They will be responsible for supervising and managing games/events as well as maintaining regular communication with club officers. Manages critical incidents as necessary and performs special duties as assigned. Sport Club Supervisors should have flexible evening and weekend hours.

Primary Function

To assist the RWC facility scheduler with reservation requests and event management duties. This position will serve in an office environment providing customer service in-person, online and over the phone.

  • Assist program areas with coordinating staffing and setup needs for special events

Primary Function

Fitness Attendants are primarily responsible for providing a clean, safe and helpful workout environment for the users of the Recreation and Wellness Center, as well as provide assistance to those working out. Additionally, Fitness Attendants will be responsible for cleaning assigned areas and assisting with Fitness Orientations when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe workout environment through constant circulation of the floor.
  • Be able to answer basic fitness questions and have extensive knowledge of the equipment and proper workout technique.
  • Be available to set up any user on any piece of equipment or weight machine and properly provide spots to users.
  • Keep the fitness floor clean and make sure all weights are in their proper place.
  • Assist supervisors in making sure weight benches and machines remain in the proper location.
  • Clean equipment according to the assigned zone area.
  • Aid the Shift Supervisor when checking in group exercise classes during peak times.
  • Enforce all building policies and procedures, such as no bags on the floor and proper dress code for all users.
  • Execute emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Report any incident of injury, theft, or broken equipment to the Supervisor on duty.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
  • Communicate effectively with and complete tasks assigned by the Building Manager/ Supervisor on duty.

Primary Function

Group Exercise Instructors are primarily responsible for conducting effective group fitness classes, educating patrons on basic fitness knowledge and maintaining a safe and enjoyable workout environment for class participants.

  • Prepare appropriate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down techniques for the specific class format being taught.

Primary Function

To provide one-on-one fitness instruction to individuals desiring a program tailored to their specific needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with clients to establish realistic yet challenging goals and meet their expectations.
  • Determine format and content of exercise/activity program based on individual client needs.
  • Plan and implement individualized exercise/activity programs for clients in general fitness, and/or specialized areas such as aerobics, stretching/flexibility training, circuit training, or sports performance.
  • Independently demonstrate and instruct clients on proper technique in standard and specialized exercise areas.
  • Conduct Fitness Assessments as assigned.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files.
  • Ensure client adherence to safety and injury prevention techniques; prepare injury reports as required.
  • Maintain a minimum of 3 clients.
  • Arrive on time for all sessions; at least 15 minutes prior to initial assessments and 10 minutes before training sessions.
  • Present a neat, well-groomed, professional appearance.

  • Maintain complete and accurate client files.
