Robert Hussey and Dannica Mosher are Promoted to Permanent Staff Officials with the NBA

Orlando, FL (October 13, 2022) – “Referee U” is celebrating yet another victory with the promotion of two alumni and former UCF Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) employees, Robert Hussey and Dannica Mosher, to Permanent Staff Officials with the NBA. The addition of Hussey and Mosher puts the UCF Basketball Officiating Class at seven alumni officiating for the NBA.

Robert Hussey graduated from UCF in 2017 with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Business and Communication. He started his basketball officiating career in 2012 as a UCF Recreation and Wellness Center Intramural Official. In 2013, he was promoted to Intramural Supervisor. During his time as an RWC employee, Hussey gained interest in officiating professionally and completed the RefereeU Basketball Officiating Class in 2013 and 2014. After graduating, Hussey refereed high school basketball and was hired by the Suncoast JUCO Conference, the NAIA, and the DII Conference for basketball and refereed in college basketball for five years. In 2017, he began officiating in the NBA G League; he completed five seasons and was selected to officiate in the playoffs in 2019 and the Finals in 2022. Hussey completed his first part-time season with the NBA two years ago (2020-2021). In the 2021-2022 season he refereed 10 regular-season games for the NBA and is now #85 on the 2021-22 NBA Officiating Roster. 

Dannica Mosher also found her start with basketball officiating at the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center as an Intramural Official in 2013, and was promoted to an Intramural Program Assistant in 2014. Mosher has five years of experience refereeing at the high school level, and eight years of collegiate basketball with the Sunshine State, Sun and American Athletic conferences. Since 2017, she has officiated five seasons in the NBA G League, and four seasons in the WNBA. Mosher was selected to officiate in both the NBA G League and the WNBA Finals. Mosher completed her first part-time season with the NBA two years ago (2020-2021). In the 2021-2022 season she refereed 12 regular-season games for the NBA and is now #89 on the 2021-22 NBA Officiating Roster. Mosher graduated from UCF with a B.S. in Biology (2015) and B.S. in Nursing (2018).

The UCF Basketball Officiating Class has also produced success in the WNBA, G-League, and Collegiate levels. Currently, there are 30 and counting class alumni representing UCF at the highest levels of basketball officiating.

Founding member of the UCF Basketball Officiating Class and Executive Director of Recreation and Wellness, Jim Wilkening, says that both Hussey and Mosher have contributed to the Basketball Officiating Program and the development of the new generation of officials.

I am also so excited to see Rob and Dannica as UCF Alumni giving back and helping to train the future officials at UCF and for the Orlando Community.
