From Syosset, New York, James Wilkening has been at RWC since 1992 and is currently a Director here. Previous Education includes University of Central Florida; BSBA in Management; University of Louisville; MAT Sports Administration. Some fun facts about James Wilkening are he's a NCAA Basketball Referee and Certified Recreational Sports Specialist.
Gary is from Plantation, FL and has been at UCF since 1996 when he arrived as a Freshman student. He earned a B.A in Psychology and an M.A. in Educational Leadership while completing a graduate assistantship in Intramural Sports. Gary is responsible for the leadership of the Intramural Sports, Sports Club, Fitness, Outdoor Adventure and Athletic Training program areas. In his spare time Gary is an NCAA college football referee and watches a ton of NBA, specifically his favorite team, the Miami Heat.
From Kettering, England, Sarah Hunt has been at RWC since 2005 and is currently an Associate Director of Facilities here. Previous Education includes Edinboro University; B.S. in Health & Physical Education; M.A. in Counseling. Sarah's favorite pastimes include running, squash and racquetball.
From Chowchilla, Ca, Michelle Fitzgerald begins work at RWC in August 2013. Previous education includes Southeast Missouri State University; M.A. in Public Administration with an emphasis in Leisure Services: Mississippi State University with a B.A. in English. Michelle has over 10 years’ experience in the community parks and recreation field having served as a recreation professional for three city agencies. She is a Certified Pool Operator, recently completed her lifeguard certification and has been a member of the National Parks and Recreation Association for over seven years. Some fun facts about Michelle, she played third base on her college softball team, was a member of the USA National Softball Team and in 2000 played professional softball for the Ohio Pride. Michelle and her family recently moved from California to Florida in April 2013.
From Lexington, Kentucky, Shane Land began working at the RWC in September 2012. Previous education includes University of Kentucky; B.A in Business Management; University of Central Florida; Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Sports Business Management. Shane Land is also a collegiate basketball official and is First Aid and CPR Instructor certified.
Troy Morris re-joined the RWC in April 2015 after spending a year as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Orlando Magic. Troy has previously served as the Assistant Director of Fitness at the RWC and prior to that worked at Virginia Commonwealth University and Austin Peay State University. Troy has a masters degree in Sports and Wellness Leadership from APSU and is a certified Strenght & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
From Spring Lake, Michigan, Nathan Vink has been the Outdoor Adventure Assistant Director since January 2014. from 2012-2014 he was the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator. Previous education includes Butler University; B.A. in Journalism; currently pursuing a M.A. in Educational Leadership (UCF). Nathan has over 10 years of experience leading outdoor and experiential education programs for such schools as Outward Bound and The Four Corners School. He is a Wilderness First Responder, PCIA Climbing Wall Instructor, a certified Whitewater River Guide and Swift Water Rescue Technician. A fun fact about Nathan Vink is he is passionate about canyoneering.
Originally from Colorado Springs, CO. I began working as the AT/RM coordinator in 2011. My previous education includes a BA in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado, a BS in Athletic Training from UCF, and a MA in Applied Exercise Physiology from UCF. I am a certified and licensed athletic trainer. I am also a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Fun fact: Currently working on achieving my goal of running a half or full marathon in every state.
From Mount Dora, FL, Lacey Carter has been at RWC since 2006 and is currently the new Coordinator of Facilities and Aquatics. Previous Education includes Florida Gulf Coast University; B.S. Management, Sports Management concentration where Lacey played Softball for the Eagles. A fun fact about Lacey is she has three Chihuahuas named Taco, Nacho and Chalupa.
Matt comes to us from the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he just received his masters in Public Health Education. Matt has undergraduate degree in Public Health Education from the University of Arizona. Matt's hometown is Olympia, Washington. A fun fact about Matt is he is ambidextrous.
From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Scott has been at the RWC since November of 2011. Previous Education includes the University of Central Florida; B.A. in Radio and Television in 1994. Some fun facts about Scott, he once traveled to Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon on the same day. He also bleeds black and gold, for the Knights and his other favorite teams the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
Andrea is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she received a degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Video Production. To continue her thirst for learning, Andrea moved to Daytona Beach and received her Bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management from Daytona State. She began her career in Recreation with the Aquatics area and is a Lifeguard Instructor and a Certified Pool Operator. Andrea has previously worked as a coordinator in Facilities and Outdoor Adventure at the RWC She joined the Sport Club Staff in September 2015.
From Coral Springs, FL Previous education includes Florida State University; M.S. & B.S. in Sport Management; FSU Coaching Certificate. Valerie is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Other certifications include American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard, TRX, MadDogg Spinning, and more. Some fun facts about Valerie, she got into fitness through her favorite sport, swimming, and during the weekends you can find her outside with her dog, Rocky!
From Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for 21 years (Laissez les bons temps rouler) began working at the RWC in February 2010. Previous education includes University of Phoenix; BSBM in Business Management. Worked 27 years in Warehouse Distribution and Logistics. I was trained by Sodexo’s Housekeeping/Environmental Service Managers in 2003. Fun fact about Jose Arce is he loves camping and fishing.
From Brooklyn, NY, Ida Cerezo has been at RWC since 2003 and is currently an Office Manager here. Previous Education includes St. Francis College; English Journalism. Ida Cerezo also loves to cook and dance.
From New York, Tom Gomez is currently the Maintenance Superintendent at the RWC. Previous Education includes Bridgeport University (Connecticut); Business Admin and English Suffolk Comm College; Accounting and Business Admin. Fun fact about Tom Gomez is he previously worked for Disney.
Shannon is a native of Miami, FL. She has been working at the Recreation and Wellness Center since January 2010 as a freshman attending UCF, first as a Member Services Associate and then as a Building Manager. Most recently she has assumed the role of Facilities Scheduler, graduating from UCF in August 2014 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Education. Shannon is a huge fan of movies, football, and anything having to do with food (especially sushi).
From Hauppauge, Long Island, Joanne McCully has been at RWC since 1988 and is currently an Administrative Assistant here. Previous Education includes Valencia Community College and Unviersity of Central Florida. Joanne McCully is also a certified in SCUBA and notary public.
From Georgetown, Guyana, Omesh Persuad has been at RWC since November 2005 and is currently a Senior Clerk here. Previous Education includes Professional Accounting Tutors College; Cert. in Accounting; Global Technologies; Cert. in PC Repair. Omesh Persuad has been married for a year and loves to play Cricket.
Lisa is originally from Rockaway, NJ. She graduated from Rowan University with a B.S. in Psychology. Currently, she holds the position for Sport Clubs Graduate Assistant. She previously held an internship with the Special Olympics and had the opportunity to speak at the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games Opening Ceremony this past summer. Lisa is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Higher Education: Educational Leadership in order to continue in the field of campus recreation. When she isn't working at the RWC, Lisa is spending her time at the beach and hopes to learn how to surf during her time spent in Florida!
Haley is the graduate assistant athletic trainer here at the RWC from the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training from Missouri State University where she worked with the MSU football and softball team, two Springfield area high schools, Mercy Sports Medicine HealthTracks clinic, and the Drury University (DII) baseball team. Haley has been very involved in the athletic training profession. Her senior year of undergrad she served as the Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association (MoATA) Student Leadership Council President, where she was able to attend state (MoATA), district (MAATA), and national (NATA) conferences. Haley is seeking her Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Physiology currently at UCF. Also, beware of her love for the St. Louis Cardinals!
