Jim is from Syosset, New York but has been at UCF since 1985 first as a student and later as an employee in 1992. Jim served in several roles ultimately getting selected as the Director of in 2007 where he provides the overall leadership for the recreation facilities, programs and staff of the RWC. He earned his BSBA in Management from UCF and his MAT in Sports Administration from the University of Louisville and is a Registered Collegiate Recreational Sports Professional as recognized by the NIRSA. Jim has been recognized for his work through the NIRSA with the Award of Merit in 2013 and by UCF as the winner of the Gabor Excellence Award in 2011. Some interesting facts about Jim is he serves as an NCAA Basketball Official and also has seen a baseball game in every major league park around the United States.
Gary is from Plantation, FL and has been at UCF since 1996 when he arrived as a Freshman student. He earned a B.A in Psychology and an M.A. in Educational Leadership while completing a graduate assistantship in Intramural Sports. Gary is responsible for the leadership of the Intramural Sports, Sports Club, Fitness, Outdoor Adventure and Athletic Training program areas. In his spare time Gary is an NCAA Division 1 college football referee and watches a ton of NBA, specifically his favorite team, the Miami Heat.
From Kettering, England, Sarah Hunt has been at RWC since 2005 and is currently an Associate Director of Facilities here. Previous Education includes Edinboro University; B.S. in Health & Physical Education; M.A. in Counseling. Sarah's favorite pastimes include running, squash and racquetball.
From Chowchilla, Ca, Michelle Fitzgerald begins work at RWC in August 2013. Previous education includes Southeast Missouri State University; M.A. in Public Administration with an emphasis in Leisure Services: Mississippi State University with a B.A. in English. Michelle has over 10 years’ experience in the community parks and recreation field having served as a recreation professional for three city agencies. She is a Certified Pool Operator, recently completed her lifeguard certification and has been a member of the National Parks and Recreation Association for over seven years. Some fun facts about Michelle, she played third base on her college softball team, was a member of the USA National Softball Team and in 2000 played professional softball for the Ohio Pride. Michelle and her family recently moved from California to Florida in April 2013.
Shane is originally from Lexington, KY. He began working at the RWC in September 2012. He holds a B.A in Business Management from the University of Kentucky and a Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Sports Business Management from UCF. In his free time, Shane is an NCAA College Basketball referee. He is also a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Detroit Lions.
Troy Morris re-joined the RWC in April 2015 after spending a year as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Orlando Magic. Troy has previously served as the Assistant Director of Fitness at the RWC and prior to that worked at Virginia Commonwealth University and Austin Peay State University. Troy has a masters degree in Sports and Wellness Leadership from APSU and is a certified Strenght & Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
Nathan Vink is originally from Spring Lake, Michigan and has been the Outdoor Adventure Assistant Director since January 2014. Nathan started at UCF in 2012 as the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator prior to being promoted. Nathan holds an MA in Higher Education and Policy Studies from UCF and a BA in Journalism from Butler University. Nathan has over 10 years of experience leading outdoor and experiential education programs for such schools as Outward Bound and The Four Corners School. He is a Wilderness First Responder, PCIA Climbing Wall Instructor, certified Whitewater River Guide and Swift Water Rescue Technician. A fun fact about Nathan Vink is he is passionate about canyoneering.
Gaby is originally from Colorado Springs, CO and began working as the Athletic Training and Risk Management Coordinator in 2011. Gaby has BA in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado, a BS in Athletic Training from UCF, and a MA in Applied Exercise Physiology from UCF. She is a certified and licensed athletic trainer, a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Gaby is currently working on achieving her goal of running a half or full marathon in every state.
Lisa joined UCF in July 2016. She is originally from Chandler, Arizona. She has an M.A.from The Ohio State University in Higher Education and Student Affairs and attended Arizona State University for her Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Her certifications include Lifeguard and CPR Instructor and Water Safety Instructor. A fun fact about Lisa is that she loves the sport of football, both college and professional, but isn't a great football player.
Heather Marshall is from Cape Coral, Florida. She received her BS in Math Education from UCF and her MEd in Higher Education from the University of Georgia. Heather previously worked at the RWC in the Intramural Sports program from 2009-2013. Before returning to UCF, Heather worked at Appalachian State University within the Intramural and Club Sports Program.
From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Scott has been at the RWC since November of 2011. Previous Education includes the University of Central Florida; B.A. in Radio and Television in 1994. He is currently seeking his Masters Degree in Higher Education and Policy Students Student Personnel. Scott is a Registered Collegiate Recreational Sports Professional as recognized by the NIRSA.Some fun facts about Scott, he once traveled to Portland, Maine and Portland, Oregon on the same day. He also bleeds black and gold, for the Knights and his other favorite teams the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
Andrea is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she received a degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Video Production. To continue her thirst for learning, Andrea moved to Daytona Beach and received her Bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management from Daytona State. She began her career in Recreation with the Aquatics area and is a Lifeguard Instructor and a Certified Pool Operator. Andrea has previously worked as a coordinator in Facilities and Outdoor Adventure at the RWC She joined the Sport Club Staff in September 2015.
Valerie Reed is from Coral Springs, FL and completed her MS & BS degrees from FSU in Sport Management with a Coaching Certificate. Valerie is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Other certifications include American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard, TRX, MadDogg Spinning, and more. Some fun facts about Valerie, she got into fitness through her favorite sport, swimming, and during the weekends you can find her outside with her dog, Rocky!
From Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Lived in New Orleans, Louisiana for 21 years (Laissez les bons temps rouler) began working at the RWC in February 2010. Previous education includes University of Phoenix; BSBM in Business Management. Worked 27 years in Warehouse Distribution and Logistics. I was trained by Sodexo’s Housekeeping/Environmental Service Managers in 2003. Fun fact about Jose Arce is he loves camping and fishing.
From Brooklyn, NY, Ida Cerezo has been at RWC since 2003 and is currently an Office Manager here. Previous Education includes St. Francis College; English Journalism. Ida Cerezo also loves to cook and dance.
From New York, Tom Gomez is currently the Maintenance Superintendent at the RWC. Previous Education includes Bridgeport University (Connecticut); Business Admin and English Suffolk Comm College; Accounting and Business Admin. Fun fact about Tom Gomez is he previously worked for Disney.
From Orlando, FL, Katherine Torres has been at the RWC since 2014 and is currently the Facilities Scheduler here. She graduated in August of 2016 from UCF with her Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration. Katherine earned the 2015 UCF Student Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. She is a huge Orlando City SC fan and enjoys going to the games or watching them from the comfort of her home.
From Hauppauge, Long Island, Joanne McCully has been at RWC since 1988 and is currently an Administrative Assistant here. Previous Education includes Valencia Community College and University of Central Florida. Joanne McCully is also a certified in SCUBA and notary public.
From Georgetown, Guyana, Omesh Persuad has been at RWC since November 2005 and is currently a Senior Clerk here. Previous Education includes Professional Accounting Tutors College; Cert. in Accounting; Global Technologies; Cert. in PC Repair. Omesh Persuad has been married for a year and loves to play Cricket.
Originally from Upstate NY, Brittney moved to Baltimore, MD to attend Towson University where she earned a B.S in Sport Management and a minor in Business Management. Brittney discovered her passion for Campus Recreation during her time at Towson, where she served as a Sport Club Supervisor for 3 years. She is now completing a Masters Degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs in order to pursue a professional career in Campus Recreation. Brittney loves playing rugby and spending time outdoors in her free time.
Originally from Canton, OH, Rob moved to Columbus, OH to attend Ohio State University where he received degrees in Psychology and Criminology. There he began his journey in the world of campus recreation as a basketball official. Since then Rob has worked many different sports for both intramurals and sport clubs. He even became high school certified to officiate wrestling. Outside of work, Rob enjoys fishing, traveling, cooking, and country music.
Kevin is from Bel Air, MD and attended the University of Maryland for his undergraduate career where he worked as a trip leader, challenge course facilitator, and program assistant for the UMD Recreation and Wellness Adventure Program. He earned his BS in Biological Sciences and is now pursuing his MA in Higher Education and Policy Studies. He is a Wilderness First Responder as well as a Kayak Touring Instructor and Whitewater Kayaking Instructor through the American Canoe Association. When he’s not adventuring you can find Kevin baking, playing piano, or dog spotting.
I grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts before moving to Durham, NH where I attended the University of New Hampshire, graduating with a B.S. in Athletic Training. I had the opportunity to work with both of UNH’s D1 women’s ice hockey and women's lacrosse teams during this time. I really enjoyed being able to serve as a mentor to the younger AT students and was a volunteer Teaching Assistant for the entirety of my senior year. Outside of hiking and cooking you can find me cheering for all of the Boston sports teams, especially Tom Brady!
Born and raised in Northern Indiana, Amy Lingenfelter moved to West Lafayette, IN to earn her degree at Purdue University. She graduated in 2017 with her B.S. in Health Education and Physical Education. She now serves as the Graduate Assistant of Fitness at the RWC. With multiple group fitness certifications she is excited to pursue her M.S. in Sport and Exercise Science. A fun fact about Amy is that she is very passionate about philanthropy and community service!
Born and raised in Newark, Delaware, Tiana attended the University of Delaware where she received her B.S. in Athletic Training in 2016. During her time at UD, she worked as a student athletic trainer for multiple Division I teams at the university including the women’s basketball team. She was also a two time recipient of the Delaware Athletic Trainers’ Association Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee Scholarship. Tiana is currently pursuing her M.S in Sport and Exercise Science at UCF. She is a proud Philadelphia Phillies Phanatic and forever a Fightin’ Blue Hen!
Jordan graduated from UCF in 2016. He graduated with a major in Human Communication and a minor in Sports Business Management. His campus recreation path started at the UCF RWC in 2013 as a member services attendant and later on as a building manager. Jordan continued campus recreation with a year long internship in Colorado at the University of Denver. Some of Jordan's hobbies include playing sports, hiking, and watching movies. A fun fact about Jordan is that he is really good at Super Smash Brothers on the N64.
A Georgia native, Stacey Myers moved to Charlotte, NC to earn her B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Stacey is a Certified Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine and the Athletics and Fitness Association of America. She is currently pursuing a M.S. in Sport and Exercise Science. A fun fact about Stacey is that she loves salsa and bachata dancing!
Joaquin grew up in Cayey, Puerto Rico and moved to Tampa, FL in 2009. In 2012 he moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida. Joaquin was heavily involved as an Intramural and Sport Club participant his freshman year. After developing an interest for intramurals, Joaquin started working as a softball and basketball official during his sophomore year. Eventually he became a Supervisor and Program Assistant where he was a mentor to new officials and supervisors. Outside of the RWC, Joaquin officiates basketball at the high school and collegiate level. When he is not working, Joaquin enjoys traveling and playing with his dog Nacho.
